At least 12 attackers killed after they targeted security checkposts in the region.

At least 12 terrorists were killed after the Pakistan military repulsed an attacked on two security checkposts in Orakzai Agency, according to a local government official.

“Dozens of terrorists entered from Khyber Agency and attacked the Khazeena and Shirren Dara checkposts,” said Mohammad Zubair, a government official. “Our soldiers retaliated, killing 12 terrorists on the spot,” he said, adding that the death toll could increase as several terrorists had been critically wounded in the clash.

A military official confirmed the attack and casualties and said the incursion was likely a reaction to Khyber-One, the military operation launched in October. “The terrorists are on the run and are finding it difficult to regroup due to the simultaneous military operations in North Waziristan and Khyber,” he added.
