Imran Khan Among Time’s ‘100 Most Influential People’

by Staff Report

The Prime Minister of Pakistan joins the likes of Donald Trump, Jacinda Ardern

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday was revealed as one of the ‘100 Most Influential People of 2019’ by Time magazine in its annual ranking.

“Pakistan is at a critical crossroads, and the man in charge is the closest it has to a rock star,” writes journalist and author Ahmed Rashid about the P.M. in the magazine. “Imran Khan captained the team that won the 1992 Cricket World Cup, built a world-class cancer hospital in Lahore, then a top-notch university for kids who could never have dreamed of attending one.”

Noting critics have derided the prime minister for being perceived to be too close to the Army and fundamentalists, Rashid adds: “Driven by fierce ambition, he can be cold and calculating. But he still generates the broadest hope among young and old that he can turn Pakistan around, and help make South Asia an ocean of peace rather than a state of permanent conflict.”

Other notable personalities to make Time magazine’s annual list include footballer Mohamed Salah, U.S. President Donald Trump, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and comedian Hasan Minhaj.

He is our great leader Imran Khan, the only hope for Pakistan. All others have been tested including Nawaz Sharif and Zardari. He is going hands in hand with Army as the purpose of both is to serve the country. He is honest and dedicated. It will a great success if accountability of corrupt parties could be possible in his term of premiership.

So I guess Greta Thunberg is Time’s person of the year? I gotta say I’m not surprised. Dana Perino even predicted it. I think it’s great!
