Ten people killed after oil lamp breaks, burning several huts.
A fire started by a falling oil lamp engulfed several huts in a fishing village in Sindh province and killed 10 people including women and children early Sunday, police said.
The tragedy occurred on Bachoo island in the Thatta district.
“The fire broke out after an oil lamp in one of the huts fell to the ground. The fire later engulfed several huts, killing 10 people,” said senior local police official Fida Hussain. He said nine people died on the spot and another on the way to the hospital.
Two children and four women were among the dead, while two injured children were transferred to the Civil Hospital in Karachi for treatment.
